How to prepare for a job interview at Academics
✨Know Your Stuff
Make sure you brush up on the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework and any recent changes in primary education. Being able to discuss how you would implement engaging lessons and support children's development will show your passion and knowledge.
✨Show Your Personality
As a Reception Class Teacher, your personality is key! Be yourself during the interview. Share your teaching philosophy and how you connect with young learners. This will help them see how you'd fit into their school culture.
✨Prepare for Scenario Questions
Expect questions about how you would handle specific classroom situations. Think of examples from your experience where you've successfully managed behaviour or engaged students. Use the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result) to structure your answers.
✨Ask Thoughtful Questions
At the end of the interview, have a few questions ready about the school's approach to teaching and learning. This shows your interest and helps you gauge if the school is the right fit for you. Ask about their support for new teachers or how they foster a positive learning environment.
