We are a forward‑thinking and inclusive primary school seeking a caring and motivated SEND Teaching Assistant to join our specialist provision team. In this rewarding role, you will support pupils with additional needs, including children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, within a dedicated Resource Provision setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide day‑to‑day support for pupils with additional learning needs within the Resource Provision
- Work closely with class teachers and the wider SEND team to deliver personalised support
- Help create a calm, engaging, and inclusive learning environment
- Support children's communication, emotional regulation and social development
- Adapt activities and learning approaches to meet individual EHCP targets
- Encourage independence, confidence and positive behaviour
- Build strong relationships with pupils, families and staff
Ideal Candidate
- Previous experience supporting children with SEND, particularly ASD
- Positive, proactive and flexible approach to supporting learning
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to build trusting relationships with children
- Calm and nurturing manner
- Experience within a school or specialist provision setting desirable
- Knowledge of strategies such as Makaton or Speech and Language support beneficial but not essential
- Paediatric First Aid qualification desirable
