Are you passionate about supporting young people to overcome barriers to learning? Do you have experience delivering targeted interventions and managing challenging behaviour? We are currently recruiting for a dedicated and resilient Intervention Specialist to join a specialist SEN school in Dover, supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
This is a varied and rewarding position combining targeted intervention work with in-class support. You will work closely with teaching staff to deliver tailored interventions aimed at improving students' behaviour, emotional regulation, and engagement with learning, while also providing hands-on support as a Teaching Assistant within the classroom.
Key Responsibilities:- Delivering targeted interventions focusing on behaviour, emotional regulation, and social skills
- Supporting pupils with SEMH needs who may display challenging behaviour
- Monitoring and tracking student progress and adapting interventions accordingly
- Providing in-class TA support to ensure pupils remain engaged and supported in lessons
- Building strong, positive relationships with students to promote trust and consistency
- Implementing behaviour management strategies in line with school policies
- Working collaboratively with teachers, pastoral teams, and external professionals
- Experience working with children or young people with SEMH and/or challenging behaviour
- Previous experience delivering interventions (education, youth work, or care settings)
- A calm, patient, and resilient approach
- Strong communication and behaviour management skills
- The ability to build rapport and act as a positive role model
