Job Title: School Cover Supervisor
Location: Canterbury
Start Date: Feb 2026/ASAP
Salary: £100.00 to £130.00 per day (PAYE, Pension, Weekly Pay, CPD)
Academics are seeking Cover Supervisors in the Canterbury area of Kent to keep up with the demand in covering absent teachers. Day to day, long term and permanent roles available which can be offered to suitable applicants on a part and full time basis.

What is a Cover Supervisor?
Cover supervisors are suitably trained school staff who supervise pupils carrying out pre-prepared exercises when teaching staff are on short-term absence. The cover supervisor\’s main job is to manage a classroom, ensuring that students remain on task with the work they have been set.
What skills and experience we\’re looking for…
- Good numeracy/literacy skills/GCSE grade C/NVQ3 (or equivalent) in Maths and English
- Proficient use of technology and understanding of its use in supporting effective teaching and learning
- Ability to work consistently, prioritise and delegate appropriately, to handle pressure and to work to deadlines
- Ability to communicate clearly and sensitively, both orally and in writing, with pupils, parents/carers and staff
- Ability to work in a team, collaboratively with other staff
- Willingness to develop own understanding and capability through advice and training
- Awareness and commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expecting all staff to share this commitment
- Knowledge of the needs of SEN students in academic surroundings
This role can typically involve:
- Supervising / covering lessons already planned and set for a class.
- Managing pupil behaviour for any class you are assigned cover with and implement schools behaviour policy if required.
- Be flexible and able to provide cover across a range of subjects and key stages.
- Be able to provide 1:1 support and answer questions about processes and procedures in line with the school policy.
- Keeping pupils on task to complete their work.
