We are working with a well‑regarded Pupil Referral Unit in Colchester that is seeking a compassionate, experienced and proactive SENCO. Job Overview
- Full‑time, Monday - Friday SENCO role.
- Lead and manage SEND provision across the setting.
- Support students with EHCPs and additional learning needs.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff, pastoral teams, external agencies and families.
- Coordinate and monitor interventions to improve student outcomes and engagement.
- Ensure statutory SEND responsibilities are met in line with current legislation.
- Develop and implement personalised support plans and strategies.
- Promote inclusive teaching and behaviour support approaches throughout the setting.
- Support staff with training, guidance and effective SEN strategies.
- Contribute to safeguarding, wellbeing and reintegration planning for students.

- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.

- Experience supporting students with SEMH, ASD, ADHD and challenging behaviours.
- Strong knowledge of EHCP processes, safeguarding and SEND legislation.
- Excellent communication, leadership and organisational skills.
- A calm, resilient and nurturing approach.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, parents and external professionals.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
