Academics are delighted to be working with a friendly and inclusive primary school in Westminster that is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their team from September 2026. The Role

  • Support teaching and learning across Key Stage 2, delivering targeted interventions, covering classes where required and working closely with teachers to ensure pupils make excellent progress.
  • Support children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them engage positively with learning and develop confidence both inside and outside the classroom.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver targeted small group and one-to-one interventions across KS2.
  • Support pupils with SEMH needs using positive behaviour management and tailored support strategies.
  • Deliver Maths and English interventions to raise attainment.
  • Provide whole-class cover during teacher absence when required.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers to plan and deliver engaging learning activities.
  • Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
  • Promote positive behaviour and contribute to an inclusive learning environment.
  • Build strong relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues.

The School is Looking For

  • An experienced HLTA or highly experienced Teaching Assistant with primary school experience.
  • Strong experience supporting pupils across Key Stage 2.
  • Previous experience supporting children with SEMH needs.
  • Confidence delivering interventions and leading whole-class learning when required.
  • Excellent communication, organisation and behaviour management skills.
  • HLTA status or equivalent experience is desirable.
