Academics are currently recruiting a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to work within an alternative provision setting in Maidstone. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone passionate about supporting young people who require a more tailored and nurturing approach to education.
The Role
- As a Learning Support Assistant, you will be working with students who may have SEMH needs, additional learning needs, or challenging behaviour, helping them to re-engage with education and achieve positive outcomes.
- Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting students on a 1:1 or small group basis
- Assisting the class teacher with lesson delivery and behaviour management
- Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils
- Encouraging engagement, confidence, and emotional regulation
- Supporting students both academically and socially
The Ideal Candidate
- We are keen to hear from candidates who:
- Have experience working with children or young people (education, care, youth work, sports coaching, etc.)
- Are calm, resilient, and patient
- Have a genuine interest in alternative education and inclusive practice
- Are able to build strong rapport and set clear boundaries
- Hold (or are willing to apply for) an enhanced DBS on the update service
Previous experience in an alternative provision, SEN setting, or PRU is desirable but not essential.
