Academics are currently recruiting on behalf of a highly respected and nurturing specialist SEMH school in Canterbury for a full-time Teaching Assistant to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of children and young people who require additional support both inside and outside the classroom.
The Role:
- Supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs on a 1:1 and small group basis.
- Building positive relationships and acting as a consistent, trusted adult.
- Assisting with behaviour regulation and helping pupils engage positively in their learning.
- Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists and other support staff.
- Encouraging pupils' social, emotional and academic development.
We Welcome Applications From:
- Experienced Teaching Assistants (TA)
- Learning Support Assistants (LSA)
- Behaviour Mentors or Youth Workers
- Individuals with an SEMH, SEN or pastoral support background
- Psychology Graduates looking to gain invaluable experience before pursuing further training or careers in education, counselling or mental health services.
The Ideal Candidate Will:
- Be patient, resilient and compassionate.
- Have excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Be confident supporting pupils who may display challenging behaviours.
- Have a genuine passion for helping vulnerable young people succeed.
- Hold, or be willing to obtain, an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
