Academics Canterbury is currently recruiting on behalf of a specialist SEMH school in Canterbury that is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and dedicated SEMH Teacher to join their team from September 2026. This specialist setting supports pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, many of whom may display challenging behaviours and require a nurturing, structured, and therapeutic approach to learning.
The Role:
- Deliver engaging and differentiated lessons tailored to individual learning needs.
- Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
- Support students in overcoming barriers to learning and achieving positive outcomes.
- Work collaboratively with support staff, senior leaders, and external professionals.
- Create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment.
The Successful Candidate Will:
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Hold a current Enhanced DBS Certificate or be willing to obtain one.
- Be available to work 5 days per week from September.
- Have experience working within an SEMH setting or possess relevant experience supporting children with challenging behaviour, SEND, or additional needs.
- Demonstrate excellent behaviour management skills and a calm, patient, and resilient approach.
- Be passionate about supporting vulnerable young people and helping them achieve their potential.
