About the Role
Academics are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to support a learner in a home education setting in Canterbury. This role is ideal for someone with strong experience in Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) and a confident understanding of assistive technology to support learning, communication, and engagement. You will work closely with the learner, family, and external professionals to deliver a personalised, academically informed programme tailored to individual needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Support learning activities based on academic frameworks and personalised education plans
- Use and adapt assistive technology (e.g. AAC devices, switches, sensory software, tablets) to enhance communication and learning
- Implement strategies informed by PMLD academic research and best practice
- Support sensory, cognitive, and communication development
- Liaise with parents, tutors, and therapists as required
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience supporting learners with PMLD
- Strong understanding of academic approaches to PMLD education
- Practical experience using assistive and adaptive technology
- A patient, empathetic, and flexible approach
- Ability to work independently in a home-based setting
- Relevant qualification or training in education, SEN, or support work (or equivalent experience)
