Academics have an exciting opportunity for a passionate SEMH Teacher to join a brand new Alternative Provision in Southampton, starting in September. This lead role is open to both qualified and unqualified teachers. What is important is that you come with experience of working in an SEMH setting and love working with children with social, emotional and mental health needs, and other associated needs.

This is a rare opportunity to help build a new Alternative Provision where you will be given the autonomy to create exciting learning experiences and help young people re-engage with education. The provision will support Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3 pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH).

It will be 'all hands on deck' so the suitable person will be required to teach, as well as lead the provision.

  • Has experience working with children with SEN and/or SEMH needs, ideally within an AP or SEN school
  • Builds strong, positive relationships with pupils and families
  • Understands the impact of trauma and barriers to learning
  • Has excellent behaviour management and communication skills

Desirable Experience:

  • Previous SENCO responsibilities or involvement in SEND leadership
  • Experience teaching within a specialist SEN school, alternative provision or inclusion setting
  • Knowledge of EHCP processes and SEND legislation

You will receive a competitive salary (M3-M6) plus SEN Allowance. If you are an experienced SEMH Teacher/Leader and would like to be considered for this amazing opportunity, please apply by sending a copy of your up to date CV.
