Are you an experienced Learning Support Assistant who is passionate about supporting children with complex additional needs? We are currently working with a welcoming Primary school who are looking for a dedicated and compassionate KS1 Complex Needs LSA to join their team ASAP. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking for a long-term position, with the role expected to continue until at least July 2027.
The successful candidate will work closely with a child in KS1 who requires consistent, nurturing and specialist support throughout the school day. You will play an important role in helping them access learning, develop their communication and independence, and feel safe and confident within the classroom environment.
The role
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support within a KS1 classroom.
- Support a child with complex additional needs and help them access the curriculum.
- Build a trusting and positive relationship with the pupil.
- Support communication, social interaction and emotional regulation.
- Encourage independence and develop the pupil's confidence.
- Support with personal care where required.
- Follow individualised support plans and strategies.
- Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider support team.
- Help create a calm, structured and inclusive learning environment.
- Support the pupil's wellbeing, development and progress.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has previous experience working with children with complex needs/SEND.
- Has experience supporting children with Autism, developmental delay or communication needs.
- Is patient, calm, nurturing and incredibly empathetic.
- Can build strong relationships with children who may communicate or behave differently.
- Is confident supporting children with personal care if required.
- Understands the importance of consistency, routine and clear boundaries.
- Can remain calm and supportive when a child becomes dysregulated.
- Is committed to helping children achieve their full potential.
- Works well as part of a wider school and SEND team.
Previous experience as an LSA, TA, SEN Teaching Assistant, Support Worker, Care Worker or within a specialist SEND setting would be highly desirable.
