Are you an experienced and passionate school leader ready to make a meaningful impact in a specialist setting? Academics are acting as an agency in relation to this vacancy and are seeking an inspirational Interim Deputy Headteacher to join a growing and nurturing special school community. This welcoming and inclusive specialist provision supports children aged 5-11, alongside a secondary provision for young people aged 11-16 with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC). All pupils have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), with a diverse range of needs including ASC, Communication and Interaction, Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH), and Complex Needs.

The school has undergone exciting growth in recent years, expanding its primary provision and opening a dedicated secondary ASC setting, with further development planned. As part of a collaborative federation, staff benefit from shared expertise, strong leadership support, and a commitment to delivering exceptional outcomes for every learner.

About the Role

As Interim Deputy Headteacher, you will play a key role within the senior leadership team, working closely with the Head of School to drive excellence across the setting.

  • Support the Headteacher with the day-to-day leadership and management of the school
  • Lead on teaching and learning, curriculum development, and pupil progress
  • Line manage and develop staff, promoting high standards and professional growth
  • Contribute to school improvement planning and self-evaluation
  • Champion safeguarding, pupil wellbeing, and positive behaviour strategies
  • Build strong relationships with pupils, families, governors, and external professionals
