How to prepare for a job interview at Academics

Know Your Stuff

Make sure you brush up on your previous experience in caretaking or facilities management. Be ready to share specific examples of maintenance tasks you've handled, as well as any health and safety procedures you're familiar with.

Show Your Proactivity

During the interview, highlight instances where you've taken the initiative in your previous roles. Schools appreciate someone who can manage their workload independently and tackle issues before they escalate.

Be Prepared for Practical Questions

Expect questions that assess your problem-solving skills. Think about scenarios where you had to deal with maintenance issues or ensure site security, and be ready to explain how you approached those situations.

Demonstrate Your Team Spirit

Even though the role requires independence, schools thrive on teamwork. Share examples of how you've collaborated with others, whether it's liaising with contractors or setting up for events, to show you're a great fit for their friendly environment.
