Are you an experienced Nursery Assistant or Early Years Practitioner looking for a new opportunity in Berkhamsted? Academics are currently recruiting for a caring, enthusiastic and reliable Nursery Assistant to join a welcoming school in Berkhamsted from October 2026. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working with young children and wants to become part of a supportive Early Years environment where children are encouraged to learn, develop and thrive.
The Nursery Assistant role
- Support children with their learning, development and day-to-day activities
- Help create a positive, stimulating and safe learning environment
- Encourage children's communication, confidence and independence
- Support individual children and small groups with Early Years activities
- Assist with observations and maintaining appropriate records of children's development
- Follow the school's safeguarding, health and safety, and Early Years procedures
- Build positive relationships with children, staff and parents
- Help maintain a clean, organised and welcoming classroom environment
What we're looking for
- Hold a Level 2 qualification in Early Years, Childcare or a relevant equivalent - desirable
- Have previous experience working with Nursery or Early Years-aged children
- Be warm, patient and enthusiastic about supporting young children's development
- Have a good understanding of safeguarding and the importance of children's welfare
- Be reliable, proactive and confident working as part of a team
- Be able to commute to Berkhamsted
