We are seeking an enthusiastic, committed, and experienced HLTA to join our friendly and supportive primary school in Gillingham, Kent. This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified HLTA to make a significant impact across our school, working with pupils from Reception through to Year 5. This full-time, permanent HLTA position is available for an immediate start. The successful HLTA will support teaching and learning across the primary phase, deliver targeted interventions, and provide high-quality classroom support while working closely with teachers and senior leaders.
Key Responsibilities of the HLTA:
- Support high-quality teaching and learning across Reception to Year 5.
- Deliver lessons and learning activities as directed by class teachers.
- Undertake whole-class teaching and cover responsibilities in the absence of teachers when required.
- Lead targeted interventions for individuals and small groups.
- Support pupils with a range of educational needs to achieve their full potential.
- Monitor, record, and report on pupil progress.
- Assist in planning, preparing, and evaluating learning activities.
- Promote positive behaviour and contribute to a safe and inclusive learning environment.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, parents, and external professionals.
The Successful HLTA Will:
- Hold HLTA status or an equivalent recognised qualification.
- Have recent experience working as an HLTA or in a similar role within a primary school setting.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of the primary curriculum.
- Be confident supporting teaching and learning across EYFS, Key Stage 1, and Key Stage 2.
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Build positive and productive relationships with pupils, colleagues, and families.
- Be adaptable, proactive, and committed to improving outcomes for all children.
- Share our commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
