How to prepare for a job interview at Academics

✨Know Your Stuff

Make sure you’re familiar with the HLTA role and its responsibilities. Brush up on your knowledge of the curriculum and how to support different age groups, especially in EYFS, Key Stage 1, and Key Stage 2. This will show that you’re not just qualified but genuinely interested in making a difference.

✨Showcase Your Experience

Prepare specific examples from your previous roles where you’ve successfully managed classroom behaviour or supported pupils one-on-one. Use the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result) to structure your answers. This will help you demonstrate your skills effectively.

✨Be Flexible and Proactive

Since this is a supply role, highlight your adaptability and willingness to step into various situations. Share instances where you’ve had to think on your feet or adjust your teaching style to meet the needs of different learners. This will resonate well with the interviewers.

✨Ask Thoughtful Questions

At the end of the interview, don’t forget to ask questions! Inquire about the schools you might work with, their approach to inclusivity, or how they support their supply staff. This shows your enthusiasm for the role and helps you gauge if it’s the right fit for you.
