Academics are an education recruitment agency working in partnership with primary schools across South Wales. We are currently seeking a passionate and nurturing Early Years Teacher to join a large, welcoming primary school in Barry, Vale of Glamorgan from September 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who is enthusiastic about Early Years education and committed to supporting young children as they begin their learning journey. The successful candidate will join a supportive teaching team in a school with strong leadership and a caring, inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging and creative lessons in line with the Early Years Foundation Phase curriculum
  • Support pupils in developing early literacy, numeracy and social skills
  • Assess and monitor pupil progress to inform planning and next steps
  • Create a positive, stimulating and nurturing classroom environment
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, teaching assistants and parents/carers
  • Support pupils' academic, social and emotional development

Minimum Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one through Academics
  • Previous experience teaching in Early Years, Nursery or Reception
  • Strong understanding of the Early Years curriculum and child development
  • Two professional references from the last two years
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills

Role Details:

  • Contract Type: Temporary
  • Start Date: September 2026
  • Location: Barry, Vale of Glamorgan
  • Pay Rate: £172.98 - £180 per day (inclusive of holiday pay)
  • Higher rates are available dependent upon experience, training, qualifications and client rate available
