Are you a compassionate, patient and reliable PMLD Learning Support Assistant with experience in SEN or care-based environments? Academics are recruiting PMLD Learning Support Assistants to work on a temporary, ongoing supply basis within specialist SEN schools across Barnsley. As a PMLD Learning Support Assistant, you will support pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) in calm, structured and highly nurturing school settings. This role is ideal for individuals from SEN, care or healthcare backgrounds who are looking for flexible work that has a genuine and positive impact on pupils' daily lives.
Position: PMLD Learning Support Assistant
Location: Barnsley, South Yorkshire
Contract: Temporary, flexible ongoing
Pay: Β£88.94 - Β£100 per day (dependent on experience and training, paid via PAYE - no umbrella company fees)
Start Date: ASAP or a start date that suits you
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with PMLD
- Assist with personal care, hygiene routines and physical support
- Support moving and handling in line with training and risk assessments
- Deliver sensory-based and communication-focused activities
- Promote independence, dignity and emotional wellbeing
- Follow EHCPs, care plans and safeguarding procedures
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary SEN team
Candidate Requirements:
- Experience supporting children or young people with PMLD or complex needs
- Background in SEN, care, healthcare or support work
- Calm, patient and nurturing approach
- Comfortable carrying out personal care responsibilities
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Enhanced Child and Adult DBS (or willingness to apply)
- Relevant SEN or care qualifications are desirable but not essential
