Academics are working with a variety of Early Years environments seeking enthusiastic Early Years Supply Teacher staff who can deliver high-quality teaching for children aged 3-5 during this crucial learning period.
Position: Early Years Supply Teacher
Location: Barnsley, South Yorkshire
Contract: Temporary, flexible ongoing positions
Pay: Β£130 - Β£190 per day (dependent upon experience, training, qualifications and client rate available, paid via PAYE - no umbrella company fees)
Start Date: ASAP or from a suitable start date
About the Role
As an Early Years Supply Teacher, you will contribute to children's early development by delivering inspiring EYFS lessons, supporting social and emotional growth, and encouraging independent learning. You may be working in Reception classes, Early Years units or private nursery settings - offering fantastic variety and valuable professional experience. Teachers working in primary school Reception require QTS, whereas teachers working exclusively in early years childcare settings may hold EYTS, gained via Early Years ITT or an Early Years Teacher Degree Apprenticeship.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver structured and play-based learning aligned to EYFS standards
- Support communication, early literacy, numeracy and personal skills
- Carry out simple observational assessments and progress notes
- Collaborate effectively with support staff and parents
- Encourage curiosity, confidence and independence
- Maintain a safe and nurturing Early Years learning space
- Promote safeguarding and pupil welfare across all settings
Candidate Requirements
- Early Years Teacher Status (EYTS) or Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Recent experience in an Early Years setting (Nursery or Reception)
- Strong knowledge of child development and the EYFS curriculum
- A caring, enthusiastic and patient approach
- Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply)
