Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)? Academics is looking for a dedicated Assistant SENCO to join our dynamic team!

School: Secondary – Rated β€˜Good’ by OFSTED

Location: Chesham

Start: ASAP – July

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teaching Support: Work with individuals or small groups to reinforce learning and improve outcomes.
  • Support classroom teachers in differentiating activities for pupils with SEND.
  • Help implement and monitor targeted interventions for identified pupils.
  • Contribute to a positive learning environment that promotes inclusion and progress.
  • SENCo Assistance: Support with the administration of EHCPs, referrals, provision maps, and support plans.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of interventions and pupil progress.
  • Liaise with parents/carers under the guidance of the SENCo.
  • Assist in organising and scheduling meetings, reviews, and external agency visits.
  • Prepare resources and materials for individualised pupil support.
  • Support the SENCo with staff CPD and awareness of SEND strategies across the school.

What we’re Looking For:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Experience teaching KS3 English would be an advantage.
  • Experience with SEND students in a secondary school.
  • Strong understanding of SEND Code of Practice.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
