We are delighted to be working in partnership with an exceptional primary school in the London Borough of Wandsworth to recruit an experienced Assistant Headteacher & SENCO for a one-year maternity cover contract commencing in September 2026.

The Successful Candidate Will

  • Hold the National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCO) or an equivalent SENCO qualification
  • Have substantial experience as a SENCO within a primary school setting
  • Demonstrate successful leadership experience at Assistant Headteacher level or equivalent
  • Have a strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and current SEND legislation
  • Be experienced in writing, reviewing and implementing EHCPs
  • Have excellent communication, organisation and team leadership skills

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage SEND provision across the school
  • Oversee EHCP applications, annual reviews and intervention programmes
  • Support teachers in delivering high-quality inclusive teaching and learning
  • Work closely with parents, carers and external professionals
  • Monitor pupil progress and ensure appropriate support strategies are in place
