Aspiring Probation Officer – Young Offenders – Mental Health – Dorking – Education and Training
The school is based near Dorking and provides support for children aged 9-16 years with social, emotional, and mental health challenges. All students have a designated Education Health Care Plan (EHCP) detailing their specific needs. The school offers a safe environment and therapies such as occupational therapy, physiotherapy, music, speech, and language therapies, integrated with the curriculum team to support students\’ physical and emotional needs.
Responsibilities include:
- Assisting and supervising children\’s behaviour during the school day and supporting their learning and participation in class
- Working with individual students or groups both inside and outside the classroom
- Encouraging social skills development and supporting individual needs
- Building confidence and motivation
- Participating in team meetings and training
- Maintaining progress records
Requirements include:
- An undergraduate degree in Psychology, Criminology, or a related field
- Understanding of diverse learning and behavioural needs
- Good education in English and Maths (A Levels preferred)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and a caring attitude
Additional details:
- Roles include Aspiring Probation Officer, Youth Criminal Justice, Learning Mentor, Behaviour Mentor, Teaching Assistant
- Daily rate: £89 to £105 (5-day week, 8:30 am to 4:00 pm)
- Experience in special needs, mental health, trauma, or SEN settings preferred
- Start date: May 25, with 1-year contracts
