Are you an individual who is passionate about supporting children with their mental health needs? If so, a really rewarding position has become available for a Youth Support Worker to work in a school in Abingdon. This is an excellent position to gain valuable experience whilst also making a huge difference to the lives of vulnerable children.
They place a huge focus on supporting students who have been diagnosed with Autism, ensuring they receive the necessary interventions to support their development and education. As a Youth Support Worker, you will be directly involved in helping children manage and cope with their emotions and mental health, regulate their emotions, and adopt healthy coping strategies.
Your day-to-day duties will involve:
- Supporting and shadowing the class teacher
- Providing 1:1 support for the SEN students
- Helping run exciting lessons to ensure the classroom is a fun and engaging place
- Behavioural management as required
This will be a transformative experience, enriching your life while also making a positive impact on the lives of children who are struggling to cope in the classroom. Experience working with vulnerable children is desirable but not essential. Those with a background in sports, art, or drama will also be at an advantage. Graduates in a relevant field will also be considered.
