This amazing specialist school in Maidenhead is looking for a Therapeutic Support Assistant to join their team starting ASAP. This setting caters for students between the ages of 4 and 16, a nice mix of primary and secondary ages. They support students who have a primary diagnosis of ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) which impacts the way they learn, communicate and process emotions. Children who struggle with ASD also have troubles with their mental health and need support to work through tricky emotions.
They are looking for someone to come in and support them in the classroom, with their education and ensure that they are able to access their learning in ways that are beneficial to them. Each student has a specific learning plan, designed for their needs. It is intended to meet them where they are. You will follow this plan with the guidance of the class teacher.
The school is looking for an individual who is passionate about supporting learning difficulties and mental health needs. They want someone to come in and build positive relationships with the students, which will in turn allow for a safe and engaging environment where learning will flow. Previous experience with children is not necessary, but personality is important!
