A specialist school, located in Tilehurst, are looking for a motivated graduate to join their team full-time as an Autism Support Assistant. You will play a pivotal role in supporting pupils with a primary diagnosis of Autism, helping to create a nurturing and inclusive environment where every student can thrive. As an Autism Support Assistant, you will provide support for pupils on the autistic spectrum, both in and outside the classroom. You will provide both 1:1 and wider group support, alongside teachers, therapists, psychologists and other specialist support staff. You will also help deliver specialist interventions, focused around emotional regulation and promoting self-expression.

The school uses creative methods to engage the students so expect lessons in music, cooking, drama, dance and art! Sensory learning and restorative practices are also key parts of the curriculum - as an Autism Support Assistant, you will help support with this, as well as rolling out other therapeutic techniques, often used in child psychology.

While working as an Autism Support Assistant, you will be proactive, versatile and confident, while making the best choices to support the students.
