We are looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant PRU to join a supportive and skilled team within a Pupil Referral Unit. This full-time, term-time role is offered on a temp-to-perm basis, providing a fantastic pathway into a long-term position for the right candidate. You will work closely with pupils who require additional support due to SEMH needs, behavioural challenges, or barriers to learning. Your focus will be to help them re-engage with education, build positive relationships, and develop the social and emotional skills they need to thrive.
Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs
- Support students to positively engage with learning and overcome challenges
- Implement behaviour strategies in line with the school’s policies
- Work collaboratively with teachers, behaviour specialists and SEN staff
- Promote emotional regulation, resilience, and personal development
- Maintain accurate records and provide feedback to staff as required
Qualifications
- Experience supporting young people with SEMH needs or challenging behaviour
- Strong communication, patience, and a calm, consistent approach
- A good understanding of behaviour management strategies
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare
- Relevant qualifications in Education, Childcare or SEN
- Experience working in a PRU or SEMH environment
