An exciting Autism Support Teaching Assistant role has become available that will provide invaluable experience for a future career.

A well-respected primary school in Calne is searching for an Autism Support Teaching Assistant to be employed on an immediate and long-term basis. The ASD child has an EHCP with explicit targets and outcomes and will require a dedicated and caring individual who will understand the precise needs of the child. The school is looking for an Autism Support Teaching Assistant who is engaging, empathetic and demonstrates a genuine desire to make a positive impact on children with SEN. Previous experience working with children with Autism is advantageous for this position.

This is an incredible opportunity for gaining experience within the Special Needs and Mental Health sector as you will have the chance in your role as an Autism Support Teaching Assistant to observe, work alongside and collaborate with speech and language therapists, educational psychologists, occupational therapists and teachers with SEN specialisms.

Responsibilities:
  • Support a child with autism in social and academic development within a mainstream primary setting.
  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs and specialist staff to implement targeted strategies.
  • Observe and report on progress, barriers, and successes to the SEN team.
  • Provide a nurturing and empathetic approach to building confidence and independence.
Requirements / Qualifications:
  • Experience working with children with Special Needs, particularly autism, is advantageous.
  • Engaging, empathetic and committed to long-term support of the child.
  • Available for ASAP start; full-time position (8:30am - 3:30pm).

Location: Calne; Salary: £80 - £95 per day.

The primary school is highly regarded in the local area and has excellent transport links and on-site parking. The successful Autism Support Teaching Assistant will be fully committed to the child on a long-term basis. The SEN Teaching Assistant will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO, and receive specialist and expert support and training vital for personal development.
