Teaching Assistant – ASC & SEMH – Basingstoke We are seeking a committed and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in Basingstoke, supporting children and young people aged 4-16 with Autistic Spectrum Condition and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs. This full-time Teaching Assistant role is 33.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, and is offered on a temp-to-perm basis with an immediate start available. As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher to support learning, assist with classroom management, and help create a safe, structured, and nurturing environment. You will play an important role in maintaining health and safety standards, supporting student\’s personal development, and helping to maintain an organised classroom. The role requires a Teaching Assistant who can take responsibility, work flexibly, and operate effectively both independently and as part of a team. You will build positive working relationships with young people and colleagues and communicate successfully using a variety of approaches to meet individual needs. Experience working with challenging behaviour in children or young people is highly desirable, as well as experience as a Teaching Assistant or LSA. The ideal candidate will hold an NVQ Level 2 qualification (or equivalent) and have GCSEs in Maths and English (or equivalent). Applicants must have, or be willing to apply for, an enhanced DBS check and be based in or willing to travel to Basingstoke. This is a rewarding opportunity for a Teaching Assistant looking to make a real difference within a specialist setting in Basingstoke, with the potential for a permanent position.
