Academics are currently looking for experienced Teaching Assistants for day-to-day and short/long term roles within our partnership nurseries and primary schools. Working across Leek, the Staffordshire Moorlands, and the surrounding areas can be diversified, meaning that we work with an assortment of primary schools and that we do have different requirements to suit.
We are proud to say that here at Academics we have had a strong record of placing many of our Teaching Assistants into permanent work following a successful period of long term supply within our nurseries and primary schools.
Responsibilities of a Teaching Assistant in Early Years:- Work alongside teachers and fellow practitioners to deliver fun EYFS appropriate sessions and activities.
- Managing challenging behaviour and engaging learners with their own learning.
- To encourage independence, positive behaviour, and social interaction.
- Working with learners either 1-2-1 or in small groups.
- Committed to support both the teacher and the students to succeed.
- Previous experience of working with children in a nursery or primary school setting (in the UK).
- A minimum Level 3 qualification in Early Years/Childcare (or equivalent).
- Strong knowledge of the EYFS curriculum.
- Confident communication skills and to be an excellent motivator in the room (1-2-1 or small group support).
- Strong behaviour management skills with the ability to support learners.
- A good level of literacy and numeracy skills (GCSE English and Maths Grade 4 or Grade C and above/Functional Skills Level 2 in the minimum required).
- A current Enhanced DBS that is registered with the Update Service, or you will be prepared to apply for a new DBS with ourselves (cost applied).
