Academics are currently looking for experienced Learning Support Practitioners (LSP) for short and long term roles within our partnership primary schools. Working across Stoke-on-Trent, Newcastle-under-Lyme and the surrounding areas in Staffordshire can be diversified, meaning that we work with an assortment of primary schools and that we do have different requirements to suit.

We are proud to say that here at Academics we have had a strong record of placing many of our Learning Support Practitioners into permanent work following a successful period of long term supply within our primary schools.

Responsibilities of a Learning Support Practitioner:

  • Working with learners either 1-2-1 or in small groups.
  • Support learners to develop essential skills, build social connections, and engage actively in learning.
  • Managing behaviour and engaging learners with their own learning.
  • Small group interventions and supporting children with a range of needs (SEND).
  • Committed to support both the teacher and the learners to succeed.

For this role, applicants who apply must have:

  • A minimum Level 3 qualification in Childcare/Early Years (or equivalent).
  • Previous experience of working with children in a primary school or educational setting in the UK.
  • Confident communication skills and to be an excellent motivator in the classroom.
  • Strong behaviour management skills with the ability to support learners in Early Years, Key Stage 1, and/or Key Stage 2.
  • A good level of literacy and numeracy skills (GCSE English and Maths Grade 4 or Grade C and above/Functional Skills Level 2 in the minimum required).
  • A current Enhanced DBS that is registered with the Update Service, or you will be prepared to apply for a new DBS with ourselves (cost applied).
