Role Summary

This is a nurturing and inclusive primary school located in the heart of Brentwood. They are committed to providing every child with the support they need to achieve their full potential. They are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Speech and Language Learning Support Assistant to join their enthusiastic team and make a meaningful difference in the lives of pupils.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver tailored support to pupils with speech and language difficulties, both 1:1 and in small groups.
  • Implement strategies and programmes developed by speech and language therapists.
  • Track and record pupil progress, sharing findings with relevant staff.
  • Adapt communication techniques to suit the needs of individual pupils.
  • Support classroom learning and help create an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • Liaise with teachers and parents to share progress and next steps.
  • Support the development of social communication and language skills across the school setting.

About You

Essential

  • Experience supporting children with speech, language, and communication needs (SLCN).
  • Good understanding of early language development and common communication difficulties.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • A nurturing, patient, and positive approach to working with children.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Desirable

  • Relevant qualifications in speech and language support (e.g., ELKLAN, or similar).
  • Previous experience in a school or early years setting.
  • Knowledge of EHCP processes and SEN provision.
