About the school
This school aims to support all students with their specific needs and barriers to learning to enable them to reach their full potential both academically and in terms of managing their behaviour. This is achieved by providing high quality teaching and learning and by using assessment, engagement and developing educational programmes. The school works actively with students and their parents/carers to ensure positive outcomes for all.
The Ideal candidate should have
- Knowledge of the statutory requirements of equal opportunities, discrimination, health and safety, SEN & safeguarding of children.
- High expectations of students' behaviour and clear strategies for working with challenging students.
- Ability to motivate and encourage children appropriately.
- Ability to work independently, supported by the teacher, with groups of or individual students.
- Ability to work with challenging students, understand their needs and demonstrate effective behaviour management strategies as and when required.
- Ability to work at an advanced level with the teacher in planning and delivery of teaching activities (including those defined in Individual Education Plans).
- Experience of working with children with EAL, SEN, speech and languages difficulties or other complex needs.
- Ability to establish and maintain good relationships and rapport with internal colleagues and external contacts (e.g. parents, education psychologists)
- TeamTeach/Restraint/Trauma informed practitioner.
