A specialist school for children with Autism and complex needs is seeking a Psychology Graduate to join their team of incredible support staff. You will work as a Learning Support Assistant within the classroom, playing a key role in the social, emotional and academic development of every pupil.
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will support students with a range of Special Educational Needs (SEN), including autism, complex needs, speech, language and communication needs, mental health difficulties and behaviour challenges. You will experience various cognitive behaviours and utilise engagement methods, such as restorative practices promoted by therapists and psychologists, to support the pupils. The school places a strong emphasis on emotional well-being and social development, weaving these skills into every aspect of the curriculum.
This is an excellent opportunity if you are a Psychology or Criminology graduate, keen to pursue a career in SEN Teaching, Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy or Educational Psychology. You will gain relevant safeguarding training and help support the school's fully-integrated therapy programme.
The school are seeking a Graduate with a strong academic background (ideally a 2:2 degree or above), and a passion for helping vulnerable children. Previous experience working with children and/or vulnerable adults would be beneficial.
