Academics are recruiting on behalf of an Ofsted rated 'Outstanding' residential SEN school in between Lymington and Brockenhurst in the New Forest. All young people have an Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP) with their primary need being Autism and require support to access education, have difficulty initiating or limited social interactions and need support with organisation and problem solving, which can hamper independence. They may typically be working at or above age-related expectations or with moderate learning difficulties.

They are looking to appoint a number of experienced Child Support Workers to join them on a temp to perm contract. You will be required to help develop their independence skills, pursue hobbies and introduce new hobbies or any activities the young person would like to try, understand the wider community and help build relationships and make friends.

Responsibilities:

  • Help develop independence skills and support engagement in hobbies or activities the young person would like to try.
  • Support understanding of the wider community and help build relationships and make friends.
  • Be able to drive as there are no public transport links directly to the residential school and be able to drive a standard mini bus as part of the role, or be willing to.
  • Shift patterns include weekends.
