Aspiring Educational Psychologist role great for Psychology/Counselling/Criminology Graduates!

Are you interested in supporting children with Mental Health issues? Would you like to build your experience working with Complex Needs and work alongside trained therapists, counsellors and psychologists?

An outstanding specialist school for children with Social and Emotional Mental Health Needs based in Reading in Berkshire is looking for a bright and enthusiastic Graduate to work as a SEN Teaching Assistant to support children with behaviour and mental health issues.

Ideally, the Graduate will have qualified in Psychology, Counselling or Criminology but other subjects will also be considered. Candidates with relevant experience will also be considered!

The SEN School is in Reading in Berkshire and the role is full-time starting ASAP or in September 2023. The SEN children are aged 4 to 11 and require consistent, ongoing support to ensure they have the highest quality of care and child-centred support.

Experience in a similar role would be desirable but not essential. Graduates in a similar field will also be considered (e.g. Psychology, Criminology etc). This is a fantastic opportunity for any Psychology Graduate to work alongside the therapists and psychologists based on-site at school. You will be mentored and have the opportunity to shadow sessions and learn from them. Plus, you will gain invaluable experience working with Special Needs and Mental Health issues.

This is a great opportunity for an aspiring educational or occupational psychologist, therapeutic support worker or SEN teacher. The SEMH School is looking for a SEN Teaching Assistant who can bring enthusiasm, passion and experience to the classroom. They are looking for a SEN TA who will be proactive and adaptable and be able to use their own initiative. Resilience and confidence to work with challenging behaviour is desirable!

The SEN children in this school require a teaching assistant who understands their complex needs and is open-minded and up for a challenge. The children have varying needs although SEMH is the main provision. Suitable experience can include working with SEN children and/or adults in any setting, even on a personal level such as with family. Level 3 qualifications+ are also required and a Degree would be most desirable.
