Overview
Mental Health Assistant/Teaching Assistant role in Wokingham, Berkshire. ASAP start. Ideal for Psychology/Counselling/Criminology graduates. Primary Phase, supporting children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) and Complex Needs.
Responsibilities
- Support children with mental health issues and SEMH/Complex Needs in a primary setting (ages 4–11).
- Work alongside trained therapists, counsellors and psychologists; shadow sessions and learn from on-site professionals.
- Be proactive, adaptable, and use own initiative; manage challenging behaviour with resilience and confidence.
- Provide consistent, child-centred support to ensure high-quality care.
Qualifications and Experience
- Level 3 qualifications or higher required; a degree in Psychology, Counselling, Criminology or a related field is highly desirable.
- Graduates in related fields will be considered; experience in SEN or working with individuals with mental health needs is desirable but not essential.
- Experience with SEN children and/or adults in any setting, including personal experience, is acceptable.
