Academics are currently recruiting a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to work within an alternative provision setting in Maidstone. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone passionate about supporting young people who require a more tailored and nurturing approach to education.

The Role

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will be working with students who may have SEMH needs, additional learning needs, or challenging behaviour, helping them to re-engage with education and achieve positive outcomes.

  • Supporting students on a 1:1 or small group basis
  • Assisting the class teacher with lesson delivery and behaviour management
  • Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils
  • Encouraging engagement, confidence, and emotional regulation

  • Have experience working with children or young people (education, care, youth work, sports coaching, etc.)
  • Are calm, resilient, and patient

  • Are able to build strong rapport and set clear boundaries
  • Hold (or are willing to apply for) an enhanced DBS on the update service
  • Previous experience in an alternative provision, SEN setting, or PRU is desirable but not essential
