A Teaching Assistant at a Special School in Oxford for children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties (Ages 5 to 11) is required for an ASAP start. This position is a fantastic route for an aspiring Psychologist, Therapist, or someone looking to work in the Criminal Justice system.
The school provides an alternative education for children who have social and emotional difficulties such as anxiety and school refusal due to developmental trauma and adverse childhood experiences, as well as specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia and dyscalculia. The Teaching Assistant/Mental Health Support Assistant will be working closely with trained professionals including Psychologists and Therapists and will have the opportunity to shadow their work.
Your role as a Mental Health Support Assistant is to give students an education tailored to their individual needs, enabling and empowering them to understand that 'great minds think differently', gain confidence in themselves, and progress their learning. The school is progressive, compassionate, values-based, and has a strong ethos with a highly skilled team passionate about what they do.
The priority as a Teaching Assistant/Mental Health Support Assistant will be the children's social, emotional, and mental health development.
