A friendly and welcoming Special Needs School, located in Chippenham, are seeking a Learning Support Mentor to join their team as soon as next week. The school provides tailored support for children and teenagers with a range of specialist diagnoses, including Autism, ADHD, communication challenges, learning difficulties, and mental health needs.
As a Learning Support Mentor, you will play a key role in building the confidence and self-esteem of each pupil, whilst supporting their academic progress, social development and personal growth. To cater to the needs of each student, you will need to be flexible, with the ability to adapt your communication style. This is an excellent opportunity for a patient and compassionate individual who is passionate about making a meaningful difference.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a graduate looking to gain experience in Psychology or a related specialist field. By working as a Learning Support Mentor, you will develop insight into therapeutic interventions and techniques designed to support children with disabilities. Additionally, you will have the chance to explore sensory therapy, play therapy, and speech and language practices, including the use of Makaton and sign language.
Previous experience working with children or vulnerable adults would be beneficial. A degree in a related field, such as Psychology or Criminology, would also be beneficial but not essential.
