Learning Support Assistant (ALN) – Special Resource Base
Location: Barry, Vale of Glamorgan
Start Date: End of March 2025
Contract Type: Full-Time, Term-Time Only

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with Additional Learning Needs (ALN)? We are seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join a nurturing and supportive Primary School in Barry, working within their Special Resource Base (SRB). This is an exciting opportunity to support a small group of children with a range of needs in a purpose-built, inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Provide one-to-one and group support to children with ALN, including ASD, ADHD, and those undergoing diagnosis or awaiting special provision placements.
2. Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored learning activities and interventions.
3. Foster a positive and inclusive environment, promoting social and emotional development.
4. Support children with their individual education plans (IEPs) and contribute to their progress and assessment.
5. Work collaboratively with teachers, ALNCOs, Parents & Guardians.
6. Provide personal care and emotional support when required.

Requirements:

1. Previous experience working with children with ALN in a school or similar setting.
2. A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to supporting children\’s individual needs.
3. Ability to adapt to different learning styles and implement positive behaviour management strategies.
4. DBS certificate (Enhanced) registered with the Update Service.
5. Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC).
6. Relevant qualifications in childcare, education, or support work (desirable but not essential).
