Learning Support Assistant (LSA) - SEN Secondary Unit

Location: Brentwood

Start Date: After Easter Holidays

Contract Type: Full-time (term-time only)

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a small, supportive SEN secondary unit in Brentwood. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people with special educational needs. You will work closely with teaching staff to support students with a range of needs, including autism, ADHD, and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs. The role involves both 1:1 and small group support, helping students to access learning, build confidence, and develop independence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide tailored support to students with SEN in and out of the classroom
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons
  • Support students with emotional regulation and behaviour management strategies
  • Help implement individual education plans (IEPs) and EHCP targets
  • Foster a safe, nurturing, and positive learning environment
  • Build strong, supportive relationships with students and staff

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN (preferred but not essential)
  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people with additional needs
  • The ability to remain calm and adaptable in a dynamic environment
