Are you a compassionate and resilient teaching assistant with a passion for supporting children with special educational needs? We are seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a child with ADHD at a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Huddersfield.
About the Role:
- You will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals to support a child with a recent diagnosis of ADHD.
- Your role will focus on building trust and developing creative, low-demand strategies to reduce anxiety and encourage engagement in learning and social development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide consistent, person-centred 1:1 support within the classroom and other school settings.
- Use low-demand and child-led approaches in line with best practice for ADHD.
- Develop positive relationships to support emotional regulation and reduce barriers to learning.
- Collaborate with the wider SEND team to adapt learning materials and routines.
- Monitor and report progress, challenges, and breakthroughs.
We Are Looking For:
- Experience supporting children with SEND, particularly ASD/ADHD.
- A calm, empathetic, and flexible approach to behaviour and communication.
- Strong teamwork skills and the ability to take initiative.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed or neurodiversity-affirming practices (desirable).
- Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, CACHE, or equivalent).
