Academics are working on a fantastic opportunity for a Primary School SEN Teaching Assistant to join our pool of welcoming primary schools in the Bradford area!
Role: Primary SEN Teaching Assistant
Area: Bradford, West Yorkshire
Contract: Daily Supply | Short Term | Long Term
Days/Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30 - 15:30
Pay: DoE (paid via PAYE)
Additional Info: Support a number of local primary schools to offer a nurturing and inclusive environment when SEN provision is a strong priority. This will be supporting both mainstream and SEN provisions. You will be working with a variety of children with additional needs, both inside and outside the classroom, helping them to access learning, build confidence and develop independence.
The schools will range from having excellent facilities to support pupils, including:
- A dedicated Thrive Room for emotional wellbeing
- A highly experienced SENCo
- An in-house ELSA
- Intervention Rooms for small groups or individual learning support
The role of Primary SEN Teaching Assistant is an ideal role for someone passionate about supporting young learners and making a real difference in their day-to-day school experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 or small-group support for children with a range of SEN needs.
- Assist in delivering tailored interventions and learning activities.
- Support pupils in the classroom, during transitions and outdoor learning.
- Work collaboratively with the SENCo, ELSA, teachers and other support staff.
- Help children develop confidence, communication and emotional regulation.
- Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils and staff.
Person Specification / Requirements:
- Previous experience supporting children with SEN is preferred but not essential.
- Patient, resilient and adaptable with a calm, nurturing approach.
- Able to support children with varying needs and learning styles.
- Strong communication skills and a willingness to learn.
- Passionate about helping children thrive both academically and emotionally.
