Are you an outstanding Graduate looking to gain experience before pursuing a career as a Speech and Language Therapist? Look no further, as we have a Special Educational Needs (SEN) School in Halesowen who are looking for an Aspiring Speech and Language Therapist to work as a SEN Learning Support Assistant for the remainder of this academic year. You will be supporting a small class, working in partnership with the school's teaching staff and support staff team to deliver specific interventions that aim to boost students' language acquisition.
You will have the opportunity to work alongside qualified Speech and Language Therapists (SALT), and deliver interventions to children with speech, language and communication needs both in a small group and 1:1. You will make a real difference to the lives of the children, gaining vital experience which will enable you to kick-start your future career as a Speech and Language Therapist.
Job role and responsibilities:
- Assist the class teacher in providing the learning experience of students
- Behaviour and pastoral support
- Ability to build robust and effective relationships with students
- Practical approach to meet the individual needs of students
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Caring, compassionate, and a good listener
- Willing to work 1:1 and in small groups with students
- Ensure safeguarding of students
- Attend staff meetings and complete appropriate CPD
Start date ASAP, trial days taking place to ensure the role and school is right for you. Excellent on-site training, support and CPD is provided to ensure safeguarding of all students. Β£88.94-Β£100 per day, Mon-Fri, 08:30 to 15:30, PAYE, term time only. No previous experience is required. GCSE in English and Maths. If you have a Psychology / Criminology / Social Science degree, it's an excellent use of your degree. You MUST have right to work in the UK in order to apply - no Visa sponsorship.
