About the role
A Specialist School near Tilehurst are seeking a dedicated Graduate to join their team as an SEN Support Assistant. The school caters for children aged 4‑16 with complex needs, including autism, sensory processing difficulties, communication challenges and associated learning needs. As an SEN Support Assistant, you will assist a class of 5 to 10 pupils, working closely with the school's teaching team, therapists, and support staff. Together, you will deliver individualised learning plans and interventions that promote each student's learning, independence, communication, and emotional well‑being.
Responsibilities
- Provide support and encouragement to help students reach their potential.
- Foster a calm, structured and positive environment to reduce anxiety and build each pupil's confidence.
- Learn to roll out specialist interventions to support communication, social interaction and sensory needs.
- Assist with challenging behaviours, pastoral care and personal care.
