Overview

Are you a Graduate looking to further your experience with mental health? Are you passionate about making a meaningful impact on the lives of children with special educational needs (SEN)? This role is in a Special Needs School for children with disabilities seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Graduate to join their team as an SEN Teaching Assistant. This is a good opportunity for a recent graduate to gain experience working with individuals with learning difficulties and mental health challenges.

Responsibilities

Support children aged 3 to 18 with a range of additional needs, including Autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, learning difficulties, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy and physical disabilities.
Help pupils academically (e.g., Maths and English) and equip them with life skills, including social skills, interpersonal skills and independent living skills.
Contribute to the school’s unique approach to learning, which includes activities in art, music, cooking and outdoor education.

Qualifications and Requirements

Recent University Graduate (e.g., Psychology or Criminology) with an interest in SEN and mental health.
Willingness to apply degree knowledge to classroom scenarios and gain first-hand experience for future career paths such as Psychologist, Counsellor, Therapist or Teacher.
Flexible, patient, and proactive in supporting both the emotional and academic development of pupils.
