Academics are currently looking for experienced Primary Teaching Assistants for day-to-day and short/long term roles within our partnership primary schools. Working across Cheshire East can be diversified, meaning that we work with an assortment of primary schools and that we do have different requirements to suit.

We are proud to say that here at Academics we have had a strong record of placing many of our teaching assistants into permanent work following a successful period of long term supply within our primary schools.

Responsibilities of a Primary Teaching Assistant:
  • Supporting the teacher with the delivery of the lesson.
  • Preparing the classroom for lessons, such as setting up equipment.
  • Managing behaviour and engaging learners with their own learning.
  • Working with learners either 1-2-1 or in small groups.
  • Committed to support both the teacher and the students to succeed.
For this role, applicants who apply must:
  • Have previous experience of working with children in a primary school or educational setting in the UK.
  • Hold confident communication skills and will be an excellent motivator in the classroom (1-2-1 or small group support).
  • Have strong behaviour management skills with the ability to support learners in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.
  • Be happy to travel and to be able to get to our partnership schools in Cheshire East by 8.30am with sometimes only 30-60 minutes' notice for our on the day supply.
  • Have a good level of literacy and numeracy skills (GCSE English and Maths Grade 4 or Grade C and above/Functional Skills Level 2 in the minimum required).
  • Be familiar with the UK National Curriculum.
  • Own a current Enhanced DBS that is registered with the Update Service, or you will be prepared to apply for a new DBS with ourselves (cost applied).
