Are you a confident and capable Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) looking for rewarding, flexible work across Doncaster? Academics are recruiting skilled HLTA staff to support a range of primary schools on a temporary, flexible ongoing basis, with opportunities to deliver interventions and provide PPA/class cover.
Position: Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)
Location: Doncaster, South Yorkshire
Contract: Temporary, flexible ongoing positions
Pay: £115 - £145 per day (paid via PAYE - no umbrella fees)
Start Date: ASAP or a start date that suits you
About the Role
As an HLTA, you will support teaching and learning across the primary curriculum, delivering pre-planned lessons during PPA cover, small group interventions, or supporting targeted pupils including those with SEND. You will work closely with teachers and SLT, contributing to planning, delivery and assessment where required. This role is ideal for experienced support staff who are confident leading learning and promoting progress and independence in children.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver pre-planned lessons during PPA or staff absence
- Support learning across EYFS, KS1 and KS2
- Lead small group and 1:1 intervention (e.g. phonics, maths, reading)
- Promote positive behaviour and engagement in learning
- Assist with planning, marking and assessment as directed
- Contribute to classroom organisation and learning resources
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and school teams
- Follow safeguarding protocols at all times
Candidate Requirements
- Level 4 HLTA qualification with relevant experience
- Strong HLTA-level experience and Degree educated (essential)
- Ability to lead whole-class learning confidently
- Sound knowledge of the primary curriculum
- Strong behaviour management and communication skills
- Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply)
