About the Role
Academics is recruiting a committed Distance Learning Facilitator to support adult learners in a prison education environment near Sittingbourne. This role is central to helping learners access and complete accredited distance learning courses, supporting their progression, confidence and rehabilitation through education. You will work within the education department of a prison, supporting learners who are studying independently via distance learning providers. This is not a teaching role, but one that focuses on guidance, coordination and learner support.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the main point of contact for distance learning students within the prison
- Support learners with applications, enrolments and course administration
- Liaise with awarding bodies, distance learning providers, tutors and prison staff
- Track learner progress and maintain accurate records
- Motivate and encourage learners to engage positively with education
- Facilitate access to learning materials and assessment resources
- Support exam and assessment processes in line with prison regulations
- Uphold safeguarding, confidentiality and security procedures at all times
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience in education, learning support, libraries, IAG, or similar role
- Strong organisational and administrative skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to build positive, professional relationships with adult learners
- Resilience, reliability and emotional maturity
- Willingness to work within the security constraints of a prison environment
